1. Kajol Turned down the role of Piya in 3 Idiots

Firsth in the list is Kajol. Initially Raju Hirani approcahed Kajol to play the role of Pia in 3 Idiots. But for some reason she denied the role and later Kareena Kapoor became part of the film. It must have been tough for Kajol to turn down this mega opportunity but she may have her reason.

2. Aishwarya Rai turned down the role of lead actress in Raja Hindustani

3. Kareena Kapoor – Hum Dil de Chuke Sanam

Kareen may have been lucky to get the role of Piya in 3 Idiots but surely not so lucky when she turned down the role of Nandini in HDDCS. Aishwarya grabbed the role and rest s history. Kareena went on to debut in JP Dutta’s Refugee which was super flop.

4. Akshay Kumar – Bhag Milkha Bhag

Akshay Kumar was the first choice of Rakesh Mehra and Milkha Singh to play the lead role of Milkha singh, but he turned it down citing date problem. He must have felt that he actually did a big mistake but whats gone is gone.

5. Dev Anand – Zanjeere

Dev Anand was first aprroached for the role of Inspector Vijay but he denied that role. Later Amitabh Bachhan was casted and it became his career defining moment.

6. Raj Kapoor in Anand

Hrishikesh Mukharjee first wanted raj Kapoor to play the role of Anand in his movie but he denied the role for some reason. Later Rajesh Khanna was approached who was sitting at the chair of superstar at that time. Movie went on to become one of the finest in bollywod and Rajesh Khanna’s portrayal of Anand became memorable.

7. Shahrukh Khan – Munna bhai MBBS

Yes. SRK was first approcahed by Raju Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra for the role of Munna Bhai in Munna Bhai MBBS but he declined the offer. Which turned out to be blessing in disguise for Sanjay Dutt because he will always be remembered for his portrayal of Munna Bhai.

8. Satrughan Sinha – Sholay

Another success story of Amitabh Bachhan. He was not the first choice for the role of Jay, instead it was his arch rival Satrughan Sinha who was approchaed for that role. But he declined the role saying that his role is not good enough and rest is history. Satrughan probably missed the opportunity of being the part of movie of the century.

9. Hrithik Roshan – Dil Chahta Hai

Farhan Akhtar’s first choice role of Aaksh was Hrithik Roshan. Infact in one interview Farhan Akhtar said that he wrote that character with Hrithik in mind but when he approchaed Hrithik, he denied it citing date issues. Later Aamir did the role and made it his year with Lagaan already being super hit.

10. Saif Ali Khan – Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaynge

Surprised? Yes we all are. For some reason Saif Ali Khan was the first choice for the role of Raj in iconic bollywood movie DDLJ. And bigger surprise is that he denied it. This must have been best denial of all because no one can imagine anyone else other than SRK as Raj in DDLJ.
