Will You Make Your Child A Teacher?


I recall this incident from high school, when a fellow classmate had scored really low in physics and the teacher had refused to give him grace marks. Well, to be true, even grace marks couldn’t help him pass the paper so the teacher didn’t bother.
In the Parent Teacher meet, his father accused the Principle of not hiring good enough teachers. He wasn’t ready to accept that his kid didn’t bother to concentrate in the class and went on with the following lines : “What do you do with all the fees paid? Your teachers are sub-standard so the kids spend so much on tuition. Why can’t you hire good teachers? “
The Principle was a wise man. He very calmly asked, “Sir, you will make your child a doctor, engineer, lawyer and manager, but never a teacher. Nobody aspires to be a teacher in today’s date. Then how do you say we don’t hire good teachers? Will you make your child a teacher?”
The question had quite an effect on the angry parent. He left the room without another word with that question hanging in the air.With everything in life going fast track, what’s the future of our basic education system, our schools? Will YOU make your child a teacher?
